Welcome to the Philip Larkin Society website. Here we present all the essential information concerning the Society and its activities, publications, and the programme of current and future meetings.
The Philip Larkin Society was founded in 1995 on the 10th anniversary of the poet's death. It received charitable status in 2000 when the object of the Society was stated thus:
"To promote the public knowledge and appreciation of the works of Philip Larkin and his contemporaries by such means as are charitable."
The Annual General Meeting of the Society is held on a Saturday in June each year. The meeting is always followed by a Special Guest Lecture and over the years speakers have included; Alan Plater, Andrew Motion, John Bayley, Patrick Garland, Anne Fine and Colin Dexter.
The Society has also organised three international conferences on Larkin held at the University of Hull.
