The School in August - August 2002Chosen by Paul Beaumont
This lovely, simple poem captures so well the solitude, and unanswered questions of an empty school in the summer holidays. And the relentless latent march of time. The poem took me back to my schooldays in Southsea, happy swimming groups and a young schoolboy now turned grey.
