Philip Larkin's Coventry

10.45 am - 4.30 pm (approx.)

There will be no charge for participants but there will be an entirely voluntary collection in respect of the Philip Larkin Statue.

Leaders: Don Lee and Gloria Gaffney

Assemble by Coventry Railway Station concourse (platform entrance) at 10.45 am prompt. The walk will cover approximately 4 miles. Guests will include Jeff Vent O.B.E (ex King Henry VIII master) and Pete Walters, who masterminded the production of the Trail as well as Covenrty’s Walk of Fame that features Larkin and which we shall visit on our walk.

Society members who received a copy of the Coventry Trail brochure with About Larkin 28 are asked to bring their copy along with them. The brochure will provide the background information for our walk, so if you want to be kept fully briefed, don’t forget to bring your copy with you.

Lunch is NOT being arranged, so carry food/drink as required. Please register for the event in advance so that the Society can record numbers.

Thomas Hardy Birthday Weekend

Joint event with the Thomas Hardy Society commemorating the 170th anniversary of Hardy's birth on 2 June 1840 and the 25th anniversary of Philip Larkin's death in 1985.

Location: Dorchester, Dorset

Events will include:

11.00 am - 'The trees are coming into leaf...'
A coach trip, led by Tony Fincham, visiting the Hardy heartland.
Tickets: Members of THS & PLS £10. Non- Members £12

3.30 pm - Thomas Hardy and Philip Larkin
The Birthday Lecture, by Dr Jane Thomas
Venue: Council Chamber, County Hall
Tickets: Members of THS & PLS £5. Non- Members £6
